4x4 Method
Yau
Build key centers and edge pairs early for better efficiency.
About Yau
Yau is one of the most popular competitive 4x4 methods. It builds two centers early, solves several cross edges, and then continues with centers and edge pairing in a more speed-friendly order.
The main benefit of Yau is that the final 3x3 stage starts with a planned cross, which makes the solve flow better than basic Reduction. It also gives stronger inspection and lookahead opportunities.
Yau is a great method for cubers aiming for sub-1 minute, sub-45, and faster 4x4 results. It takes more planning than Reduction, but it becomes very powerful once the order feels natural.
